Ohio Bar Exam Results Released

The Ohio Supreme Court released results today from the July 2019 Ohio Bar Examination. Of the 885 aspiring lawyers who sat for the exam, 647 (73.1 percent) passed; Among 734 first-time test takers, 82 percent received passing scores.

The exam was administered at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio, July 30 to Aug. 1.

The successful applicants, who have also satisfied all the Supreme Court of Ohio’s other admission requirements, will be sworn in during two special sessions of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Palace Theatre in Columbus.

The oath will be administered to successful applicants from Capital University, Northern Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, and the Ohio State University at 10:30 a.m. The oath will be administered to successful applicants from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Ohio Northern University, University of Akron, University of Toledo, and other out-of-state law schools at 2 p.m.

The bar exam is administered twice a year by the Court, which regulates the practice of law in Ohio, including the admission of new attorneys, the biennial registration of current attorneys, attorney discipline in cases of misconduct, and the administration of continuing legal education.

The next examination will be Feb. 25-27, 2020.
